I woke up early on New Year’s Eve to say goodbye to the people on the farm (more about those people later, when I catch up on posts.) After a nice breakfast I got strapped into my car seat for the two hour ride to Des Moines where we were going to get on the plane to go home. When we got to the airport mom and dad dragged me and our bags in and dad found out that our plane wasn’t coming to get us at 1:40 like we thought. Instead, it was going to be 7 hours late. So I sat and watched the people go by and played with mom.
Dad’s Aunt Julianne didn’t live too far away though, so she came to pick us up so we could wait at her house. Plus, her kid Claire came home and I got to meet her to say thank you in person for the blanket they made me. By the time we got back to the airport for our flight, the food court was closed, which meant we didn’t get to use the food vouchers that the plane people gave us. That was ok though because mom gives me all the food I need and Aunt Julianne fed mom dinner. We made it back to Denver at about 10:00 and I was so tired I slept the whole way. Mom said we had to do a good deed for the new year, so we found some people in line at McDonalds and gave them our food voucher, they were very happy.
We finally got home just in time to get in our pajamas and say “happy new year!” I heard loud pops and saw flashes of color out the window and mom and dad gave me a kiss. After that I don’t remember any more because I fell asleep. It was a very long day and a pretty good year to have been born.
